Dial-up Information
Before
beginning, select the proper access number from this
link of access numbers, and note the phone number that
you will be using.
Installing Dial-Up Networking
Step 1.
First you need to check if you already have Dial-Up
Networking Installed on your computer. Go to your desktop and to
the My Computer icon (the top left icon). 
If you see the Dial-Up Networking
folder then you can proceed to Installing TCP/IP.
Step 2. (If Dial-Up Networking is not installed)
Double-click on the Control Panel
icon, ,
and then double-click on the Add/Remove Programs
icon, .
On the Add/Remove Programs window,
click on the Windows Setup tab. Search for the item
Communications and double-click on it. You should
now have this screen:

Make sure there's a check next to Dial-Up Networking.
Step 3.
Click OK until you're back to theControl Panel.
Now Windows 95/98 will start to copy files and may prompt you for
your Windows 95/98 CD-ROM/disks. When it asks you to restart your
computer, click No since there are still more steps to
finish.
Installing TCP/IP
Step 1.
Go to your desktop and to the My Computer icon and
double-click on the Control Panel icon. Then double-click
on the Network icon. If you already have TCP/IP
installed then you can proceed to Creating a New Dial-Up
Networking Connection .
Step 2.(If TCP/IP is not installed)

| Click on Add and then choose
Protocol and then Add.
You will get a split window with a list of manufacturers.

Choose Microsoft and then TCP/IP
and then press OK.

Step 3.
Note: Make sure that there is only
once instance of TCP/IP.
Click OK and your computer will now
restart.
Creating a New Dial-Up Networking Connection
Step 1.
Open up My Computer, then open the
Dial-Up Networking folder. If this is the first
time that you opened the folder, the Make New Connection Wizard
should automatically start. Otherwise, double-click Make
New Connection, .
Step 2.
Type in ComBase for the connection name and
then click Next. For the phone number, enter the
corresponding number from the list above.
You should now have an icon in your Dial-Up Networking
folder call ComBase.
Step 3.

Right-click on the ComBase icon and
then go to Properties.

Click on the Server Types button.
Make sure nothing is checked except TCP/IP.
Press OK until you're back to Dial-Up
Networking

Step 4.
Right-click on the ComBase icon and go to
Create Shortcut.
When Windows95/98 asks if you want to make a shortcut on the desktop,
click Yes.
Step 5.
Double-click on the new Shortcut to ComBase
icon on your desktop.

Now enter in your user_name under User name
and your password under Password and then
click on Connect
Your modem will now dial and it should proceed to
:
- Verifying Username and Password
- Logging on to the network
- Connected to ComBase with
your speed and duration.
Congratulations! You have now successfully connected
to ComBase.
Now that you are online, you may now use any Internet
software on your computer (Netscape, Internet Explorer, Eudora,
etc.) Most Windows 95/98 computers already come Internet Explorer
pre-installed. You can click on the Start button and then
go to Programs --> Accessories --> Internet
Tools --> Internet Explorer.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot Login
- Make sure that you are not entering in your User_Name/Password
in CAPS.
- Make sure that you are only entering in your user_name
and not user_name@combase.com.

Disconnects Immediately
- Make sure that you are calling the correct access
number.
- Make sure that you have TCP/IP installed.

Can't Negotiate Protocols
- Make sure that Dial-up Networking is properly configured.
